Fund-Raising Events

Can you fit a square peg into a round hole? The ultimate challenge evening!

Instead of a supper-quiz format, this is a puzzle quiz! Up to 120 people (or ten teams) Take part in an extraordinary journey through some of the worlds most unusual two and three-dimensional puzzles and challenges.

Unlike a traditional supper quiz, instead of simply responding to questions, participants have a complete hands-on experience! In addition, the winning table is not revealed until the very end of the programme - so no team will be tempted to give up half way through because they are adrift in last place! The puzzles are suitable for all age groups and the age range of your guests is taken carefully into account when the programme is planned.

"It was almost beyond belief to see a group of adults having so much fun"
Michele Lobl, Radlett Social Committee

The programme is divided into two sections. In the first part, each team is deluged with a near identical set of puzzles. These cover a wide range of puzzle types - from lateral thinking to shape and co-ordination puzzles. Each participant can choose from 15 or more puzzles that will be on the table and can decide to solve them either individually, with a partner, or as a whole team. There is no competitive element to this part of the programme. People simply have a go at whatever they like! It's a huge amount of fun and creates a wonderful atmosphere. The second part of the programme is made up of team challenges. Initially, the teams must simply do their best with a series of rounds incorporating lateral thinking puzzles and giant team challenges. At the end, it becomes competitive and the programme finishes with a winning table (we can supply prizes for a small additional charge).

At the end of the event, we ask to be able to open our mobile puzzle shop, so that your guests are able to buy some of the puzzles that they will have enjoyed during the programme. We also have a large range of educational puzzles for children.

Help With Planning The Event

Please do not hesitate to ask us for help in planning your event. We are often able to attend committee meetings in order to give you a demonstration of the puzzles and discuss the format. We can also help with the design of tickets, invitations and posters and can advise you about suitable venues. Please ask us for more details.

Some questions that are often asked...

Q: How should the hall be set up?
A: This obviously depends on the hall. Usually, guests will be seated around trestle or round tables and we will also require a number of tables for the puzzles and the shop. In some cases, we may also request the use of a PA system. We will also need access to the hall around 45 minutes prior to the start of the event in order to organise the puzzles.

Q: How much money should be raised through the evening?
A: This obviously depends on the costs of items such as hall hire and food. Most committees charge anywhere between £5 and £15 for a ticket. In our experience, an average evening, with 120 people makes a profit of between £600 and £1200, including the raffle, but this figure is sometimes much greater.

Q: What if guests have been to a 'Happy Puzzle Company' event before?
A:Please let us know if you are aware that many people will have seen one of our programmes before. The evening will be tailored accordingly.

Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any further questions
