Many schools have used their Puzzle Challenge Day as a great opportunity to further links with other local schools and the
LEA. During breaks between programmes, we are always happy to meet and give an introduction to our programmes and resources
for any visitors. If you wish, they can also take part in a programme.
Here are some examples of what schools have done...
From Joy Tagg, Head Teacher at Moorings Way Infant School, Portsmouth:
"As a Beacon School, it was something we wanted to share, so we set up a Puzzle Day with two other schools in the city and
finished up with a family puzzle evening for our pupils and parents.
The activities stimulated our children to think and plan together and as they are such a valuable learning resource, we have
bought two of the (Start Your Own Puzzle Club!) games packs to share with other schools in Portsmouth ..."
From Lynn Bennetts, Department of Lifelong Learning, Plymouth LEA:
"A pilot puzzle day for able, quick-thinking Year 3/4s took place at a local junior school. 180 pupils from 30 schools
attended this day which was led by The Happy Puzzle Company ... This was followed the next day, by a similar event for secondary
schools (180 Year 8 pupils from 15 schools).
Feedback and evaluations indicated that all the pupils found the sessions to be most enjoyable and stimulating...
A number of schools have since set up 'Puzzle Clubs' or have purchased resources for use within classes."
From Steve Walters, Senior Manager for Teaching and Learning, St. Peter's Collegiate School,
Wolverhampton (Secondary):
"We were looking for activities that would challenge our gifted and talented students and allow them to work in teams.
The Happy Puzzle Company Challenge Day was perfect. All activities challenged students in every year - it gave the students a chance
to discover more about themselves.
Local G and T Co-ordinators were invited, along with Heads of Maths. The school Principal came to see what was going on and instantly
joined a team. Well done... We look forward to inviting you back!"
