Special Needs

All of the products in our catalogue are mainstream puzzles and games. They are united by the fact that they are all a tremendous amount of fun. Hidden amongst all of the fun are some very useful applications for Special Educational Needs.

As you will see, we have carefully noted the skills that are nurtured through the use of each of the puzzles. Whether you are a parent looking for activities to support your childıs development, or an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or SEN teacher looking for practical solutions to help with learning difficulties, we want to offer you our full support.

Dyspraxia and Dyslexia

Many of the parents who approach us have learned that their child may be Dyspraxic or Dyslexic.

Dyspraxia affects about 7% of the population and affects fine and gross motor co-ordination. These are the small and large movements that you make such as dressing, handwriting, colouring and cutting as a child. Large movements such as throwing a ball and catching and running may be harder to do. Children with these sorts of problems also may have problems with sequencing.i.e remembering a sequence of instructions and may need help learning their times tables. Once the problem has been recognised it is possible to help.It affects about 3 times as many boys as girls.

Dyslexia affects reading and spelling and can overlap with this problem as well.

We are always delighted to recommend that parents take advice from the Dyscovery Centre in Cardiff.

The Dyscovery Centre was set up three years ago and has a team of health and educational professionals available to give practical advice and assess both children and adults with Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Aspergers, Attention Deficit Disorder. They also do in-service training and will travel to schools and homes to help if this is required. The Centre is unique in the UK and sees individuals both nationally and internationally.
