Hello everyone and welcome to this month’s Happy Puzzle competition!
For those of you who are new to this, for 14 weeks over lockdown we had an absolute blast creating weekly puzzles which were being received by well over 50,000 people each week. We had thousands of entries and each week a winner was drawn at random from the correct entries. As the weeks passed by, the puzzles were getting more and more ambitious and in the end, Gavin had to concede that he did not have the time to produce a new one every week. So we decided to make it a monthly thing, with the puzzle coming out at 7pm on the first Tuesday of each month.
Here we go then!
Here is the 76th PUZZLE and there is a £50 Happy Puzzle voucher up for grabs, and I will explain why its £50 as opposed to the usual £25 further down this email.
Wimbledon Winners
Below is a wordsearch with the surnames of 20 Wimbledon champions hidden somewhere in there. 10 of the surnames are men's champions and 20 are ladies champions spanning the last 100 years.
You will also notice that there are lots of tennis balls behind the letters. First thing you need to do is to solve the wordsearch by finding the 20 surnames.
Once you have done that, using ONLY the letters that appear on top of the tennis balls that fall on top of a correct answer, use those letters to unscramble the name of a British tennis player. Remember, any letters that are sitting on tennis balls that DO NOT appear on a correct answer are there to throw you off, so you need to complete the wordsearch first.
To win the £50 Happy Puzzle voucher, you simply need to email me the name of the tennis player whoose anagram is made up of the letters on top of the tennis balls from the correct answer.
Please send your answer to me at josh@happypuzzle.co.uk, ensuring that you put JULY 2025 PUZZLE in the subject line.
The competition closes at 11.59pm on Thursday 31st July 2025. Both the answers and the winner will then be drawn at random and revealed in next month’s puzzle on Tuesday 5th August 2025! My decision will be final!

Now back to June’s competition!
We actually had a huge number of answers for June's competition as well as many people getting in touch to say that no two films were released in the same year. It appears that whilst doing my research, two websites incorrectly listed E.T as being released in 1983 as opposed to 1982 which was the year it was actually released which is the mistake i made in putting this puzzle together.
Despite a number of you guessing correctly that there was no year where two films were released, to be fair to everyone, i have decided to carry the prize over to this month, meaning that there will be a £50 gift card up for grabs as opposed to £25.
Sorry once again to all of those who took part, but i can assure you that this month's has been checked and double checked.
That’s it! Enjoy the competition.
