Why Brain Teasers Are Good For You

A daily brainteaser is a small, easy way to give your brain a workout. Puzzles improve memory, focus and processing speed, sharpen your problem solving and deductive skills, and they make learning new things fun rather than a chore. Good for kids who need a screen break, good for adults who want to switch off without switching off entirely, and a quietly competitive game for the whole family.

Types of Brain Teaser Puzzles

A quick guide to what you will find in the collection above.

  • Logic puzzles: The biggest part of our range. Think mechanical brainteasers like the Grecian Computer and the IQ Deluxe series, where you slide, rotate and connect pieces to crack the sequence. Logic grid puzzles and riddles sit here too. Is it really elementary, dear Watson?

  • Spatial and 3D puzzles: Sharpen your spatial awareness and pattern recognition. Tangrams, shape manipulation, gear-based puzzles like the award-winning IQ Gears, and the Criss Cross Cube. A different kind of challenge that rewards thinking with your hands.

  • Word puzzles: For people who want something harder than the newspaper crossword. Anagrams, crosswords, word searches and cryptograms, all designed to stretch your vocabulary and your patience in equal measure.

  • Number puzzles: Maths-based brainteasers like IQ Digits that turn numbers into a proper challenge, and a sneaky way to get kids practising their maths skills without anyone calling it homework.

If you fancy something even harder, our Genius Collection gathers the toughest puzzles in the shop in one place. For word, maths and shape games specifically, browse the full range.

Picks Worth a Look

Knights Of The Round Table: Eight Arthurian logic puzzles where you use clues to seat each knight at the right place. A clever twist on classic deduction.

The Gordian Knot: A wooden disentanglement puzzle inspired by the Greek legend. Untangle the knot, free the sword and read the story behind it.

Chess Peace: Place seven chess pieces so black and white never attack each other. Easy to become an expert, and brutal once you clear the early levels.

IQ Jigsaw: Nine jigsaw-shaped pieces, a 6x6 grid and 120 challenges with one solution each. Pieces can flip and rotate, so the easy-looking ones rarely are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are brain teaser puzzles good for kids?

Yes, and they are sneaky-useful. The right brainteaser improves problem solving, deductive skills and concentration, and most kids do not realise they're practising any of those things because they’re too busy trying to solve it! For younger children, check the recommended age on each product page, or head to our pocket money puzzles range for kid-friendly starters.

How do I pick the right brain teaser?

Pick by difficulty first, theme second. If you want a gentle introduction, start with the IQ Minis or Reverso. If you want to be properly stuck for a few evenings, our Genius Collection is where the harder puzzles live.

Are there brain teasers I can solve as a family?

Plenty. Mechanical brainteasers like the Grecian Computer or Knights Of The Round Table work brilliantly with two or three heads on it, and word puzzles and riddles are easy to do together over a cup of tea. They are a good way to get everyone off their phones for half an hour without anyone moaning about it.

What is the difference between a brain teaser and a regular puzzle?

jigsaw asks you to put a picture back together. A brain teaser asks you to figure out a rule, a sequence or a trick, then use it to find the answer. Brainteasers come in many shapes, from physical objects to written riddles and number problems, but they all share that "aha" moment when the solution clicks.
